Who we are
Herbert Designs is owned by James Herbert and based in Florida, USA. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" mean Herbert Designs.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It covers:
- our website, herbertdesigns.com
- Quire, our signature printing web app at herbertdesigns.com/quire
- books we publish under the Herbert Designs imprint
- our email newsletter and free binding guide
If you buy from our Etsy shop, Etsy collects and handles your order information under Etsy's Privacy Policy. We receive the details Etsy shares with sellers, such as your name, shipping address, and order details, and we use them only to fill your order.
Information we collect and how we use it
We collect only what we need to sell you products, answer you, and run the site. We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need to do their job.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or if the business is sold or transferred. If the business is sold, the buyer would be bound by this policy for information collected under it.
Quire: your files stay on your device
Quire runs entirely in your web browser. The files you open or create in Quire are processed on your own computer and are never uploaded to us. We cannot see, store, or recover them.
Quire may save your settings in your browser's local storage so they are there next time. That data stays on your device, and you can clear it anytime through your browser settings. Quire does not require an account.
Like the rest of our site, the pages that load Quire may collect the basic device and usage data described above.
Your choices and rights
- Newsletter: click "unsubscribe" in any email, or email us.
- Cookies, analytics, and ads: see our Cookie Policy. In short, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or change your Meta ad preferences.
- See, correct, or delete your information: email us and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to keep some records, such as order and tax records, where the law requires it.
Wherever you live, we will honor these requests. Depending on your state or country (for example, California, or the EU and UK), you may have additional rights, such as the right to know what we hold, to opt out of targeted advertising, or to file a complaint with your local data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.
Do Not Track: our site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
Children
Our site and Quire are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it. Purchases should be made by an adult.
How we protect and keep your information
Our website uses encryption (HTTPS), and payments are handled by Etsy, so we never see your card details. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep order records as long as needed for tax and accounting purposes, generally up to 7 years. We keep newsletter addresses until you unsubscribe and contact-form messages only as long as needed to help you.
Our business is in the United States. If you visit from another country, your information will be processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be posted on the site.
